Congratulations, ladies!

According to Robert Bork (yes, the Robert Bork), who is Mitt Romney’s top legal adviser, gender discrimination is over! As he stated in an interview in this week’s issue of Newsweek:

Do you still beleive the equal-protection clause of the 14th Amendment should not apply to women?

Yes. Women are a majority of the population now. They aren’t discriminated against anymore.

Flawless logic from Mitt Romney’s top counsel! Because, as you know, as soon as women reached 50.00001% of the population, suddenly all the executives of every company began hiring and promoting women equally. I’m sure the twelve Fortune 500 companies with female CEOs would agree. 12 out of 500! That’s 2.4%. Pretty close to a nice non-discriminatory 50%, give or take 48%.

Tea Party Nation to business owners: “Stop creating jobs”

Which is more important — getting the politician you want into the White House, or helping America? The Tea Party Nation have made their choice with this pledge for business owners:

…Resolved that: President Obama has seized what amount to dictatorial powers to bypass our Congress, and that because the Congress is controlled by a Progressive socialist Senate that will not impeach one of their kind, they have allowed this and yielded what are rightfully congressional powers to this new dictator…

I, an American small business owner, part of the class that produces the vast majority of real, wealth producing jobs in this country, hereby resolve that I will not hire a single person until this war against business and my country is stopped.

Bachmann Says She’ll Raise Your Taxes

No, really!

“For my tax plan, I take a page out of one of my great economists that I admire, Ronald Reagan,” Bachmann boasted. “And under my tax plan I want to adopt the Reagan tax plan. It brought the economic miracle of the 1980s. Why not go with what works? I want to reinstitute the Reagan tax model from the 1980s.”

I’m sure Rep. Bachmann is well aware that taxes were higher under Reagan than under Obama.

The Mormonism Shuffle

Watch a big pile of GOP candidates try to appease the Religious Right and weasel out of saying that Mormons are Christians:

“I’m not an expert on Mormonism. All I know is that every Mormon I know is a good and decent person, has great moral values,” Santorum said.

But when asked if he believed Romney is “a true Christian,” Santorum spoke somewhat haltingly: “Mitt Romney is a true, he says he’s a Christian.”

Ah, right, Romney says he’s a Christian. That’s different from Santorum saying he thinks Romney is one.

My favorite is Gingrich, who lambasts the preacher who called Mormonism “a cult” but then himself says of Romney that “I think he’s a Mormon and Mormons define themselves as a branch of Christianity.” (emphasis added)
